It is imperative that we realize that although Omega 3 Fish Oil is important and necessary for our body to remain healthy, it may also cause some minor side effects if we are not careful on how we consume it.

First of all, we need to realize that Omega 3 acids are not the only the only healthy substances that our body needs, we also need Omega 6 acids. Many people have more Omega 6 acids in their bodies in relation to the amount of Omega 3 acids in their system. This is the case when people suffer from diseases due to lack of the fish oil substances.

The tendency of people in this scenario is to take in Omega 3 and reduce the Omega 6 acids. This reverses the situation in which, sometimes, the Omega 6 substances are proportionally more than the Omega 3 substances. This is also a bad situation for the body. The ideal proportion of the Omega 3 acids to Omega 6 in the body should be 1:1.

Some Omega 3 supplements have high doses of Omega 3 acids. These are the ones that usually cause side effects. The usual side effects encountered or suffered by individuals are the following:

Diarrhea

Blood thinning especially for those who have heart illnesses and are using blood thinners.

Abdominal Discomfort

Nose Bleeding

Requirement of more anti oxidants to be used in the body

For some types of fish oil, there could be some nutrients and vitamins that are good for the body, but when accumulated to a certain amount, could be bad for the health.

These are some of the side effects that you must watch out for when using or taking Omega 3 fish oil. These may sound bad or uncomfortable but if you must remember that the oil and the acids found in the supplement are required and necessary for the body’s health. If you have any prolonged experience of any of these side effects, you must immediately consult and inform your doctor so you could have the necessary changes in the dosage or even the brand.
